Read Full Article →Brooklyn's Two-Man Giant Squid funnels their dance-punk through guitars, theremins, and a disregard for convention, delivering something that is unique and impossible to stand still through. Starting as a bedroom project of front-man Mitchell Vinokur, it has since grown into an internationally touring band with a deserving word-of-mouth following. After posting the album Abyssal Gigantism online, the project caught the attention of Sam Sumpter (WFUV, Bands do BK), who encouraged Vinokur to book a debut rooftop show in Bushwick. The years that followed saw Two-Man Giant Squid graduate from a must-see underground band to sold out release shows at Brooklyn staple venues Baby's All Right and Market Hotel. The momentum led to 2024's Intro to Basement, an explosive record that landed them a slot at SXSW festival in Texas as well as opening slots for Gustaf, Bodega, and Sugar Pit. A year later the band finished a 3rd album in as many years, this time reinventing themselves with a strong dance-punk edge on the self-titled LP Two-Man Giant Squid. Released to critical acclaim in 2025 (SPIN, KEXP), the record caught the ear of Steve Lamacq and BBC Radio 6, who put their single “I was a DJ in 2015“ into rotation, helping launch a new international audience for the band and sending them on a debut UK tour culminating in a buzzworthy performance at FOCUS Wales. A 7-inch collaboration with Trash Casual in 2026 featured "3 Hits", a tongue-in-cheek take on the modern music industry.
